Artist’s mirrored sculptures reflect changing landscapes

Contemporaryartist Rob Mulholland designed a series of six mirrored figures thatare camouflaged amongst the woods at the David Marshall Lodge inScotland. The life-sized ‘invisible’ figures have been dubbed the’Predator’ effect after the 1987 film where an alien life formseamlessly blends into its surroundings.

The Painted Desert

ThePainted Desert is a United States desert of badlands in the FourCorners area from the Grand Canyon National Park into the PetrifiedForest National Park. Much of the area within the Petrified ForestNational Park is protected as the Petrified Forest National WildernessArea. Much of the Painted Desert region is within the Navajo Nation.

Thedesert is composed of stratified layers of easily erodible siltstone,mudstone, and shale of the Triassic Chinle Formation. These finegrained rock layers contain abundant iron and manganese compounds whichprovide the pigments for the various colors of the region.


The Most Beautiful River on Earth – Cano Cristales

The Cano Cristales, touted as the most beautiful river in the world (also called as River of five colors), is river flowing in Colombia runs for about 100 km before joining into the main water body. It is located in the northern part of Colombia, in Sierra de la Macarena.

The river can be seen with multi-color mosses and algae all around, at a specified time of a year, otherwise which appear to be dull green and brown all over. The multi-color effect is mainly due to the variation in the water level which is affected during some parts of the year, and thus making the mosses bright up and blooms for the spectators.
